Job Description:
- Conduct psychosocial and psychological assessments using validated screening tools.
- Provide one-on-one and group-based psychotherapy or counselling
- sessions for clients experiencing emotional, behavioral, or trauma-related difficulties.
- Manage cases of anxiety, depression, grief, PTSD, and adjustment disorders using WHO-recommended psychological interventions (e.g., CBT, Problem Management Plus, Interpersonal Therapy).
- Deliver psychological first aid (PFA) and immediate mental health support in crisis or post-violence situations (e.g., GBV, displacement trauma).
- Refer clients with severe mental illnesses or psychiatric emergencies to specialized services in coordination with medical staff and protection actors.
- Train LHVs, and Community Mobilizers on basic psychological skills, communication, and mental health promotion.
- Ensure quality, ethical care, and adherence to WHO MH GAP and IASC MHPSS guidelines and DSM 5.
- Contribute to the design and facilitation of psychoeducation, stress management sessions, and group therapy programs in Women Friendly Spaces and community outreach.
- Support the de-stigmatization of mental health through advocacy and engagement with local influencers and faith leaders.
- Maintain accurate, confidential client records and treatment plans.
- Monitor mental health trends and contribute to program evaluations.
- Report progress, challenges, and case outcomes to supervisor.
- Collaborate with protection team (GBV), LHV’s, and Community Mobilizers to ensure integrated, survivor-cantered care (prioritizes the rights, safety, dignity, and well-being of survivors of violence and abuse). Need base
- Uphold confidentiality, informed consent, do-no-harm, and non-discrimination principles in all interventions.
- Actively participate in inter-agency mental health and protection coordination forums where relevant.
- Will undertake direct psychotherapy for clients diagnosed with moderate to severe mental health conditions such as anxiety disorders, depression, trauma-related disorders, and other mental health challenges that require clinical intervention.
- To ensure that clients exhibiting symptoms of Severe Mental Illness (SMI) are referred appropriately to specialized mental health services, including psychiatrists or inpatient care, as per the established referral pathway.
- Must submit weekly and monthly progress reports to the Project Manager, summarizing activities, case data, Counseling session and therapeutic interventions.
- Ensure completion of the assigned target number of beneficiaries within each quarter in alignment with program goals and reporting timelines.
- Any other task assigned by the supervisor.
