Z.M.K. & Co. seeks applications from qualified and motivated professionals for the position of Advocacy & Communication Officer to support the Pakistan Polio Eradication Initiative (PEI), based at the National Emergency Operations Centre (NEOC), Islamabad.

Role Overview

The Advocacy & Communication Officer will be responsible for planning and delivering strategic advocacy, media, and communication initiatives to enhance the visibility, credibility, and impact of the polio eradication programme. The role involves close coordination with partners, provincial teams, media, and key stakeholders at national and sub-national levels.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the development and implementation of advocacy and communication strategies aligned with PEI priorities.

  • Develop high-quality communication materials, including press releases, policy briefs, reports, presentations, and advocacy content.

  • Manage media engagement, including press briefings, interviews, story pitching, and response to media inquiries.

  • Plan and deliver national advocacy and communication campaigns, events, and key programme milestones.

  • Build and maintain media and influencer networks and monitor media coverage and public sentiment.

  • Ensure consistent messaging, branding, and quality across all communication materials.

  • Support internal communications, documentation, reporting, and knowledge management at NEOC.

Eligibility Criteria

Education

  • A University Degree in Journalism, Mass Communication, International Relations, Political Science, Public Policy, International Development, or a related field.

Experience

  • Minimum 3 years of progressively responsible experience in advocacy, strategic communications, media relations, or public information.

  • Demonstrated experience in developing and implementing communication and advocacy strategies.

  • Proven ability to produce high-quality written materials for diverse audiences.

  • Experience working with government entities, development partners, or public health programmes will be an advantage.

Skills & Competencies

  • Excellent writing and editing skills in English and Urdu.

  • Strong understanding of public or social sector programmes in Pakistan.

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities with strong coordination and organizational skills.

  • Experience in media relations, campaign visibility, and brand management.

Language Proficiency

  • Fluency in English and Urdu is required.

  • Knowledge of additional local languages will be considered an asset.
