Job Description:

The AYFS Manager is responsible for the overall coordination, supervision, and day-to-day management of the Adolescent and Youth Friendly Space (AYFS), ensuring the provision of a safe, inclusive, and youth-friendly environment. The position oversees effective implementation of center-based and outreach activities, maintains close coordination with project teams and stakeholders, and ensures full compliance with organizational policies, safeguarding standards, and UNFPA project guidelines.

Main Responsibilities:

AYFS Management and Coordination:

  • Coordinate and oversee implementation of AYFS activities at the assigned AYFS location.
  • Ensure AYFS operations align with approved work plans, schedules, and youth-friendly service standards.
  • Maintain close coordination with Youth Engagement Officers to ensure coherence between community outreach and AYFS-based services.
  • Ensure a safe, respectful, and inclusive environment for all adolescents and youth accessing AYFS services.

Team Supervision and Capacity Building:

  • Provide direct supervision, technical guidance, and performance feedback to Youth Engagement Officers and AYFS staff.
  • Support staff capacity development through mentoring, coaching, and on-the-job guidance.
  • Ensure staff adherence to safeguarding, protection, accountability, and code of conduct policies.

Stakeholder Coordination and Representation:

  • Maintain effective liaison with local stakeholders, institutions, community leadership, and relevant service providers.
  • Represent SPO in coordination meetings and forums related to adolescent and youth programming, as delegated.
  • Facilitate collaboration between project teams and stakeholders to strengthen program effectiveness.

Planning, Monitoring, and Quality Assurance:

  • Ensure timely planning, execution, and monitoring of AYFS centre-based activities.
  • Conduct regular monitoring visits and reviews to assess activity quality, participation, and compliance with standards.
  • Identify operational gaps, risks, and improvement areas, and propose corrective measures.

Reporting and Documentation:

  • Ensure accurate maintenance of activity records, attendance sheets, and supporting documentation.
  • Review, consolidate, and validate reports submitted by Youth Engagement Officers.
  • Prepare and submit regular narrative and activity reports to the Project Coordinator.

 Other Responsibilities:

  • Participate in project trainings, coordination meetings, reviews, and assessments.
  • Perform any other duties assigned by the supervisor in support of project objectives

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in social sciences, Development Studies, Education, Public Health, Psychology, or a relevant field.
  • Master’s degree will be an added advantage
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in youth engagement programs
  • Strong leadership, coordination, and organizational skills.
  • Proven ability to engage effectively with adolescents, youth, communities, and institutional stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated experience in managing youth-friendly or centre-based programming.
  • Strong documentation, reporting, and record-keeping abilities.
  • Ability to plan, manage, and execute centre-based activities independently.
  • Excellent communication, liaison, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines, and manage multiple tasks.
  • Strong problem-solving, time management, and interpersonal skills.
  • High standards of professionalism, integrity, confidentiality, and safeguarding compliance.
