Job Summary

Position Summary:
The Family Physician/Medical Officer is responsible for providing comprehensive primary healthcare services to elderly patients visiting AKHSP facilities in Ghakuch. The role focuses on preventive care, diagnosis, treatment, management of acute and chronic illnesses and making referrals when required, with emphasis on holistic and patient-centered care. The incumbent ensures continuity of care and contributes to health promotion and disease prevention activities within the community. In addition, the physician will be required to conduct household visits (need basis) for patient assessment and care in collaboration with the team. The doctor is also expected to mentor staff, participate in community health programs, and support activities led by management.

Role and Responsibilities:

Clinical Responsibilities:

  • Provide comprehensive outpatient medical care to elderly patients.
  • Perform clinical evaluation, diagnosis, and management of elderly patients with acute and chronic conditions.
  • Manage common emergencies and refer patients requiring specialist care when appropriate.
  • Conduct household visits for patient care when required as per project requirement
  • Maintain continuity of care through effective patient follow-up and coordination with other healthcare providers.
  • Prescribe and manage appropriate medications and therapies according to established guidelines.
  • Ensure high-quality documentation of patient encounters and maintain accurate records.
  • Provide preventive care, including immunizations, screening, and counselling on lifestyle modification.
  • Manage common medical emergencies and refer cases requiring specialist intervention.
  • Ensure continuity of care through proper follow-up and family-centered management.
  • Promote health education and awareness among patients and community members.
  • Collaborate with specialists, nurses, and allied health staff for integrated patient management.
  • Uphold ethical medical practice and organizational policies, including infection prevention standards.
  • Contribute to community outreach camps and preventive health programs.

Administrative & Collaborative Responsibilities:

  • Participate in project meetings, case discussions, and multidisciplinary team rounds.
  • Contribute and guide outreach nurses regarding elderly care according to ICOPE as required.
  • Ensure compliance with organizational policies, infection control, and patient safety standards.
  • Fully aware of the mission and key objectives of the project as well as AKHS, P

Community & Preventive Health:

  • Promote healthy lifestyles and preventive healthcare through patient education and outreach activities.
  • Support immunization, screening camps and health awareness sessions in the community. Collaborate with Field health teams to identify and address local health needs.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • MBBS with valid PMDC license
  • Diploma, MCPS, FCPS in family medicine or geriatric care would be preferred
  • Ability to use digital tools
  • Excellent communication and customer dealing skills
  • 1-2 years of relevant experience
  • Clinical experience with elderly or palliative department would be preferred
